THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY

Last weekend, at a friend's birthday party, my friends and i started talking about how our future children will be like when they reach their teens. I mean, just look at teenagers now. Girls as young as 12 are learning to drink coffee, pluck their eyebrows and wear tons of makeup. Plus their outfits seem like there's a scarcity for cloth in the whole world (thanks to MTV). Gone are the days where kids looked forward to afternoon visits in the park, biking with friends, building treehouses (my friends and i had one when we were kids!), etc. Those have all been replaced by network games, playstations, the internet, or what have you.
And then there are drugs which are so rampant and so easy to get hold of nowadays.

I won't be a hypocrite by saying that I've never tried drugs. I have and i still smoke some sometimes. But let's put it this way, I have never and will never try anything synthetic or anything that doesn't grow from the ground.

Ecstasy. E. Superman. XTC. These are only a few names for it. I have a lot of friends who pop/party (part-e) or whatever they call it. One friend told me that the 1st time she ever tried E was the happiest day of her life. Ain't that shallow? And this friend of mine actually recommended that i pop too. Can't say that i didn't consider it at that time but after finding out that it would cost me 1200 bucks/pop, i thought...
Jeez! I'll have to pay THAT much to give myself a euphoric high and to heighten/enhance my senses for a few hours?!?!? Wadafak?!?!?! I'd rather get good food or go shopping!
And then another friend wanted to give it to me for free but i have to follow it up by inhaling some foot spray (i think they call it warry or wally. i really forgot). Tangina. I ain't sniffing no foot spray. That's fucking crazy. And pathetic. Most of them claim they enjoy the music more when they're high on E. To hell with them, i don't need to spend on exorbitant drugs to enjoy good music.

Did you guys see that episode on Oprah where they featured a 24-year-old Ecstasy user? Well, they gave her a brain scan and this is what they found:

Normal, Healthy Brain

Ecstasy user's brain. Check out the holes. Cheese, anyone?

about moi

Loves the beach, wishes she had more time and money to travel, recently got hooked to climbing mountains, reads anything she can get her hands on, frustrated writer, adores her 3-year-old Lhasa Apso, Tashi, constantly needs caffeine, wonders when she'll quit smoking, and will most likely die due to liver complications from drinking too much (if the cigarettes doesn't get to her lungs first). Can't live without accessories especially big, dangling earrings, shoe freak (aren't we all?), sucker for discovering hole-in-the-wall restaurants, will ingest anything spicy, enjoys giving and receiving massages, addicted to Friends, Sex and the City and CSI, goes gaga over kids, dreams of being alone with Jim Morrison and smoking a joint with Bob Marley. Would love to party with Gwen Stefani, shop with Patricia Field, write poetry with Maya Angelou and have Sting, Nelson Mandela, Mark Twain and Bono over for dinner.
