I'm already in vacation mode. I can actually taste the salt water and feel Boracay's powdery white sand. Too lazy too work. I just want to bum around. Oh well....

Hurraaayyy!!! It's friday!!! and my boss is flying back to Canada tomorrow!!!! Plus I'm leaving for Boracay in 5 days!

I was watching TV this morning and saw some really shallow and silly news.

1. A 13-year old boy stabbed his friend in the neck with a barbecue stick when his friend refused to give him 1 peso (Believe it or not!) to buy mangoes. (i didn't know you could get mangoes for a buck.)

2. Of all the crimes in the world, this is the one that i truly hate the most. A 30-year old man is in jail right now for raping his 16-year old cousin. He's been raping the poor girl since she was in 6th grade. The weird thing is, this rapist is married and the wife just recently found out that he has a mistress. GAWD! Some people just cant get enough.

3. 3 stuntmen got into a fist fight with a group of men in a girlie bar. And it all started because of a GRO (Guest relations officer). tsk tsk tsk.

I always visit Dog Tracker to check out the ads as I am still in search of a reasonably-priced dog. I just want a pet, thats all! So when i didnt find anything interesting at Dog tracker, i decided to go to Google and search for other sites. I typed in "Dog Ads". I pretty much got the result i wanted (like always) but came across this link that led me to this funny site.

These are actual ads for a brand of dog food that were run in New Zealand. Pretty hilarious!

Darkness in Paradise

Yesterday afternoon at around 3pm, the province of Aklan and some parts of Antique was in total darkness. NAPOCOR (National Power Corporation) cut off these provinces electricity due to the unpaid debt of AKELCO (Aklan Electric Cooperative), aklan's power distributor, amounting to P105 Million!!!

Boracay, my favorite island in the country (as of now) is also part of Aklan. Holy week is just around the corner and the island will be packed with people. It would be so disappointing for people like me who had their plane tickets and accomodations reserved 2 months before just to find the island in total darkness. We're all looking forward to enjoying the beach and partying every night.

And what about the people residing in the island and the resort owners who have been religiously paying their electric bills? Not everyone has generators and besides, generators can only do so much and go for so long.

The question is: Where did AKELCO bring all the money?

Tsk tsk tsk. This country is so full of corruption.

Please God, Let there be light in Boracay Ü

More information on the issue here.

This week's Friday Five:

1. What's your favorite animal? Tigers and Dogs

2. What pets have you had in your lifetime? a lot of dogs...there's Yuckie, Brownie, Dunkin, Brandy, Michael, Princess and Wyleen (there's another one, i just can't remember the name). I've also had a turtle which my dad got rid off when i was a kid coz belief has it that it brings bad luck. I also had a couple of hamsters, some chicks (which never lived to be chickens, hehe!) and 3 rabbits.

3. Is there any specific pet that you've wanted but never had? Why? I've always wished I could have a TIGER for a pet. They're so big, cuddly and protective that I bet if you just treat them well, they'll be really nice.

4. Are you allergic to any animals? No I am not, Thank God!

5. Do you have any 'pet' pet peeves (your pets or others')? Hhmmm...not that it ticks me off that much but i hate it when dog hair sheds off. Same goes for rabbits. I hate it when dogs arent that trained yet so they end up taking a dump in your carpet or living room floor. That pisses me off bigtime! My playful golden retriever Wyleen (she's gone now, huhuhu!) would always run and jump at me as soon as i get out of the house and it sucks coz when her paws are dirty, it stains my clothes. Meaning, i have to go back to my room and change.

Test Results
You think of yourself as being calm, relaxing, cool, and fun.
Others think of you as being brave, cuddly, has a big appetite, and resourceful.
Your relationships can be described as clear, blue, blissful, and serene.
When stressed, you feel frightened.
Take this test here.

The big appetite part is really true!!!!

My friend (and twin), Kai once told me that Peter, Paul and Mary's "Puff the Magic Dragon" was about drugs. Makes you think...read these lines from the song:

Little Jackie Paper
loved that rascal Puff
And brought him strings
and sealing wax and other fancy stuff

Plus the fact that there's a dragon named "Puff" and a kid named Jackie "Paper".

If you guys miss hearing the song, listen to it here.

I look and feel like shit today. Maybe because i'm still exhausted from last night. One of the perks i get from my job is being able to attend my client's concerts and events. Regine Velasquez had a mini-concert last night at The Mandarin Hotel and i went with my boss and my officemate, Jendy.

She was about to sing this song( i think the title was "Coming out of the Rain") and before singing, she said something that really shocked me. This is basically how she said it:

"My manager suggested that I sing this song and the first time i heard it, I said to myself 'Wow! She's has a really beautiful voice!". The singer's name is Wendy (i forgot the family name) and i really dont know anything about her except that she's black but i really like this song and this is for everyone tonight."

Was she just tackless?!?

Thank God its finally Friday!!!! I just cant wait to get out of work. I think i'm going to doze off the whole day tomorrow.

I need to get my driver's license renewed before my birthday (April 15). And the Land Transporation Office (LTO) has this new rule that drivers should take drug tests. The thing that bothers me is, is this really needed? I mean, yes i find the need for us to get drug users off the streets but how many car accidents actually happen because of drugs? Most car accidents happen because of drivers under the influence of alcohol or going over the speed limit (as if there's such a thing as speed limit in this country).

I was reading through INQ7 and read Conrado de Quiros column today which i totally agree too.

Here's an excerpt from the column:
"The LTO is not in the business of keeping the streets safe from drug addicts, it is in the business of making the streets safe from road menaces. I don't know that drug addicts naturally pose a menace to other drivers and pedestrians, quite apart from themselves. But even if they do, they are not the worst road menace there is. There are others, and far more lethal ones. "

Read the whole column here.

So The Bandits was a pretty funny film. Kate Blanchett was hilarious especially in that scene when she was dancing in the kitchen. Yeah, she's really a good actress.

I'm so sleepy. I'm beginning to despise my boss. I feel like a mom.

Oh yes i do! Isn't it enough that I pay for the tuition of my 2 sisters? Early this morning, my sister Kristine woke me up saying she needs money for her project. So with my eyes still closed, i fumbled for my bag, took out my wallet and gave her money. When she left my room, thats when it occured to me that I used to do the exact same thing to my mom. I'd go to her room, wake her up and ask for money. Dont get me wrong, i completely love my sisters and would go through hell for them. Its just that..I'm only 22!!! I'm too young to be a mom!!!

So there. This is my blog. I'm allowed to bitch about things.

Take the Which Poet are You? Quiz - brought to you out of boredom and pretention!

I love Maya Angelou! I love love love "Phenomenal Woman", "Men" and my all-time favorite is "Still I Rise". Its sooooo spunky!!! Ü

STILL I RISE

You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.

Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin' in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history's shame
I rise
Up from a past that's rooted in pain
I rise
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.

One of my bestfriends, Gina left for the States last Saturday. I didnt even see her before she left. I miss her!!! (are you reading this Gins? Ü)

My boss went out of town for the weekend and he was nice enough to lend me his hotel room for the weekend. Leeds and I went to the Spa Saturday afternoon and got a massage. When we got back to our room, we watched some TV, bought some dimsum at the chinese resto right across. At around 530, i fell asleep. i woke up at 9pm and saw Leeds watching TV. Then he fell asleep. I woke him up an hour after for dinner but he wouldnt budge so i decided to go to the chinese resto AGAIN and get some food for take out. Leeds never woke up. i slept at around midnight.

Leeds, Jon, Gibs and Mao Che (he was named after Mao Tse Tung and Che Guevarra) and I had just come from North Park, a chinese resto at around 2am last night. A silver civic with a man driving and chicks seated at the back pulled over right beside us while we were waiting for the green light. Here's how the conversation went.

Jon: Hey Che, you want to put some skirts on your civic just like that car? (talking about side skirts)
Mao Che: Nah...
Jon: You want some chicks on your car?
Mao Che: Yeaahhh. I want chicks but without the skirts.
[everyone laughs]
Jon: Yeah, man. That's a good combo...chicks without the skirts.

So i spent the afternoon browsing through really nice wallpapers at National Geographic

I'd like to share with you 10 of my greatest finds:

1.Sand tinted red by Iron Oxide in Prince Edward Island, Canada

2. Rainbow Fields in the Netherlands! Absolutely Breathtaking!

3. "The Pistol Star" taken from the Milkyway.

4. Paradise!!! I have this as my wallpaper right now.

5. My Dream Pet! If only I had the money and if only it was legal. *sigh*

6. King of the Jungle.

7. A phalarope, a small shorebird from the Arctic that feeds in the water. Haven't heard of this kind of birdie before. Looks like aluminum foil with legs to me.

8. Sea Lions Galore!!! This picture makes you feel like you're actually there.

9. At first i thought, what the hell is this?!?! Then, thats when i found out that this is the center of Yellowstone National Park’s Grand Prismatic Spring which steams at 199°Fahrenheit.

10. I used to do this as a kid thats why i found this photograph quite endearing. I used a bigger pail, though. hehe! Ü

This week's Friday Five:

1. What's your favorite vacation spot? Definitely Boracay Island! I love the white sand and the nightlife there! I have yet to go to Palawan though.

2. Where do you consider to be the biggest hell-hole on earth? Pasay City. Its a city here in the Philippines full of trash...literally.

3. What would be your dream vacation? Borabora probably. With Leeds, of course!

4. If you could go on a road-trip with anyone, who would it be and why? Leeds, of course! Why? Well, aside from the fact that I love him (mush mush!), he's a fun person, knows how to drive and is adaptable to any kind of environment. He's not the picky type. Know what i mean?

5. What are your plans for this weekend? I have no idea. I think we're going to Tagayatay with Leeds' cousins. Ü

Busy and hectic day at work today. I think i just closed another deal. Hurray!!! I think my boss is pretty impressed with my work. You see, I report directly to the President and the thing is, he isnt based in Manila, he's based in Canada. (We have another office there). He goes here every 4 months and stays in the country for around 3 weeks.

So there, I'm about to leave the office now and I'm heading to Leeds' house after. He didnt report for work today coz he wasn't feeling very well.

What an unusual morning.....

I woke up at 630am to go to work for the first time in I dont know how long. I got to Makati (the city where I work) before 8:30 am and since I was 30 mins. early, I decided to have a cup of joe at a nearby cafe before heading to the office. So there i was, playing Bejeweled on my Palm while enjoying my daily dose of caffeine. *sigh of relief*

Yesterday afternoon, I met up with my friend, Kristine, who I fondly call "Ate Tin" (For non-Filipinos, "Ate" means "Big/Elder Sister") for some coffee. She had just come from a job interview which turned out to be really sucky according to her. While we were catching up, my friend Carla called.

If you've been reading my blog, you'll remember her as my 21 year old friend who's pregnant right now. Here's how the conversation went:

Me: Hey Carla!
Carla: What are you doing tonight? Lets go out!
Me: Are you crying?
Carla: Yes, because I'm bored. I haven't been out in 2 weeks! I wanna go out! There's nothing to do here at home!
Me: You're pregnant! Those are the consequences of your actions
Carla: (still crying) But im so bored!

Since Ate Tin has gone through pregnancy before, i handed my cellphone over to her so she could thoroughly explain to my dear friend, Carla why she shouldnt go out much. oh well....c'est la vie!

Another weird thing happened last night. I have this friend, Ian who's a Medical Representative based in Ilocos (a province located on the northern part of the country). Leeds and i were on our way home last night when he texted me this: Tangina! Nakakita ako ng UFO! (Translation:Son of a bitch! I just saw a UFO!) So i reply and say, "Are you serious?" and he says, "Yeah, this is what i get for star gazing!"

I dunno...i just find it difficult to believe in those shit.

Just a few hours ago, I was cramped inside the Tamaraw FX i take going to work every morning. In my head I was cursing the driver because he drove like a madman! If taxi drivers are scum of the earth, FX Drivers are probably the world's most frustrated race car drivers. hehehe! To continue my story, the driver was talking to a passenger seated beside him. This passenger, an old woman was obviously a "regular" because they knew each other pretty well already. He was telling the woman that he was out jogging with a friend last week and that he found a month old baby boy. He said that he heard the baby crying and it was quite impossible for it to come from a nearby house because they were under a bridge. Then he saw it. The baby was inside a box with just a blanket on (just like in the movies). He picked it up and went straight to a health center and had it cleaned. The baby turned out to be so beautiful and handsome that he was just mesmerized. Some friend of his saw the infant and wanted to buy it from him (can you imagine that?!?!) but he decided to keep the kid because he considers it his lucky charm. How heartwarming...

I've always believed that there is innate good in each one of us and I guess i just proved that today. Even if that driver curses like there's no tomorrow, drives like he's in a race track and is occasionally oblivious of passengers saying "Para na po!!!" (in ENGLISH: "This is my stop!"/"I'm getting down!"), he's a good man because he took that baby in. Ü

about moi

Loves the beach, wishes she had more time and money to travel, recently got hooked to climbing mountains, reads anything she can get her hands on, frustrated writer, adores her 3-year-old Lhasa Apso, Tashi, constantly needs caffeine, wonders when she'll quit smoking, and will most likely die due to liver complications from drinking too much (if the cigarettes doesn't get to her lungs first). Can't live without accessories especially big, dangling earrings, shoe freak (aren't we all?), sucker for discovering hole-in-the-wall restaurants, will ingest anything spicy, enjoys giving and receiving massages, addicted to Friends, Sex and the City and CSI, goes gaga over kids, dreams of being alone with Jim Morrison and smoking a joint with Bob Marley. Would love to party with Gwen Stefani, shop with Patricia Field, write poetry with Maya Angelou and have Sting, Nelson Mandela, Mark Twain and Bono over for dinner.
